Mojo™ Geranium 10-inch Hanging Basket Program

TECH TIPS

Fertility: Interspecific hybrid geraniums do best with pH levels of 5.8-6.2. Apply constant liquid feed at 200 ppm nitrogen of Cal-Mag fertilizers such as 15-5-15, 14-4-14 and 17-5-17.

Temperature: Start warm with day temperatures higher than 70° F (21°C) and night temperatures higher than 64°F (18°C) for the first four to six weeks. Once established, night temperatures can be dropped to 50-55°F (10-13°C) with day temperatures staying around 60-65°F (16-18°C).

Pest Management: Scout intensively for thrips, mites and Botrytis. Drench plants with a systemic insecticide, like Mainspring®, before hanging; this provides good long-term control for aphids, whiteflies and mealy bugs. Apply a preventative fungicide drench for Pythium control, such as Subdue Maxx® fungicide alternated with Segway® fungicide. Botrytis control can be achieved with Mural® fungicide or Daconil® fungicide.

TECH TIPS

Fertility: Target a Media pH: 5.8–6.2; Media EC: SME EC: 1.5–2.7 mS/cm, PourThru EC: 2.0–3.5 mS/cm using a well-balanced N:K ratio fertilizer at 200–250 ppm nitrogen

Temperature: For Early and Mid-Season Combos maintain an average daily temperature of 66–68 °F (19–20 °C).

PGRs: Cooler temperatures will produce plants with better tone and slower growth. If growing at warmer temperatures, multiple applications of PGRs will be needed to keep growth in check and to help tone. Bonzi® drenches work well for about four weeks before finishing. Start with drench rates between 2-3 ppm for KKs containing verbena, petunias, and calibrachoas and 0.5-1 ppm for KKs containing bidens, scaevola, and lobelia.
