A showcase of Australia’s Horticultural Industry
Business Manager Tony Collins engaged with Australian growers at the Green Expo, discussing trends and developments in the flowers business.

Automation may be reshaping retail across Asia-Pacific, but for plant nurseries and garden centers, the human connection remains the winning driver of loyalty. This is the key takeaway from discussions at Green Expo.

Tony: "During the Green Expo it became once more really clear that nurseries that thrive in the evolving retail landscape will be those who really understand how people shop for plants. How they move through the store and how they decide what to buy. The secret doesn't lie in selling better, it is in serving better." Tony bases his views on a just released report Winning In-store: What Defines Great Experiences and Drives Loyalty, a collaboration between Glory and Inside Retail.

"I travelled to The Netherlands recently, and here I recognized in large garden centers, as well as in small independent nurseries, that all my findings point to one truth: great retail is rooted in care. The best plant nurseries don’t just sell things — they create experiences that help people feel connected, capable, and calm. As the retail landscape changes, your edge won’t just come from stock or price. It will come from how well you know your customers and how intentionally you design your space and service to meet their needs. In short, plant loyalty by serving people — not just selling to them."

With professional biostimulants like Hicure and selective pre-emergent herbicide such as Barricade nurseries can rely on clean and carefree production of their pot and bedding plants.
