A few weeks ago, the Syngenta Flowers team in South Asia organized yet another successful Flowers Show for growers in India. Against the slopes of the Himalayan mountains in the province of Uttarakhand, Syngenta Flowers held its third event close to the city of Bhimtal. After the Flowers Shows in Pune and Delhi area, they opened the doors at Vivero Garden on March 1st and 2nd.
Attending growers take the opportunity to have their picture taken with their family among the beautiful flowers at the Syngenta Flowers Show.
As a thought leader in the flower industry, Syngenta Flowers takes effort in promoting the business to young students. During the Bhimtal Flowers Show, Key Account Manager Gautam Sangle explained about the flowers business and the leading role for Syngenta Flowers in that industry. Technical Flowers Specialist Ivan Pozdnyakov explained about how flowers grow and what challenges growers face while making their beautiful products.
The students from Agricultural Graphic Era Hill University, Nainital learned a lot about the different types of flowers and how they grow best. Accompanied by Dr. Deepa Nainwal, Head, School of Agriculture, and Dr. Farah Khan, Assistant Professor, School of Management, the visit blossomed into a journey that helped the students to broaden their horizons and explore endless possibilities.
Within a couple of years, these students will form the new generation of Flower Growers that are already widely visible in the Indian industry. Young growers with access to capital are setting up state-of-the-art facilities, adopting best practices from abroad, and focusing on plant quality and hygiene. By doing so they are uplifting the entire ornamental industry in India by creating more value for the products and more appreciation for product quality.
Technical Sales Manager Abilash Singh showing the Salvia splendens Mojave: “This salvia has been the first choice for landscapers in other markets since a long time, because of its intense colors, dense flower spike, robust dark green foliage and very uniform habit. The original red is complemented by a range of colors: purple, red bicolor, salmon and white. These five bright colors are also available in a mix. We see the Mojave performing excellent under in the Indian climate. It has a very strong heat tolerance and continues to flower throughout the season.”
Mr. Singh: “Another extremely successful product in India is the Dianthus. Syngenta Flowers offers a versatile range of strong genetics. While the southern parts of India are captivated by the strong performance of Elation, the northern cooler parts have now met the Barbarini. This barbatus type is a true perennial type which gives it the good winter hardiness. This makes Barbarini very suitable for the higher altitudes that can be found in Uttarakhand province."
