In a pioneering move that marks a significant milestone for Vietnam's floriculture industry, Syngenta Flowers, in collaboration with Orient Trading Company, successfully hosted its first-ever flower show in the Xuan Quang community of Hung Yen Province on May 12-13, 2025. It’s the second event in a series of three across Vietnam. This event showcased an impressive array of 56 flower varieties, drawing approximately 120 visitors, primarily pot flower growers from the region. At the event, the portfolios of Syngenta Flowers and Floranova (Syngenta subsidiary company) were on display.

Led by Syngenta Flower's representatives, Mr. Ivan Pozdnyakov, Technical Support Specialist, and Nguyen Le Minh Triét, Technical Sales Manager, alongside eight team members from Orient Trading Company, the show transformed the small commune into a vibrant tapestry of colors and fragrances. Xuan Quang, known for its more than two decades tradition of pot flower and landscape plant production, provided the perfect backdrop for this horticultural house of innovations.

Triét: “Growers are producing year-round in this area, but the main season is around Lunar New Year, with sowing in October and sales in January. Key crops here are Pelargonium, Petunia, Gerbera, Salvia for winter and spring, Zinnia for year-round, and Vinca and Celosia in the summer season. With our combined portfolios of Syngenta Flowers and Floranova we have a best-in-class offer for every grower!”

Growers showed their appreciation for the plant quality in the show. Despite logistical challenges, including a difficult 1,000 km journey from the cooler Da Lat area to the extreme temperature of over 35C in Ha Noi, the team's expertise ensured that all plants were in prime condition for the show. Their quick action and Ivan's guidance in applying fertilizer and supporting plant recovery showcased Syngenta's commitment to quality and resilience.

The event gained enthusiastic responses from growers, engaging in in-depth discussions about the characteristics and potential of each variety. Standout favorites included:

  • Gerbera varieties: Cartwheel Autumn Colors, Cartwheel Strawberry Twist, and Bengal’s color range.
  • Celosia - Bright Spark, hailed as a groundbreaking variety by experienced Celosia growers.
  • Helianthus annuus - Sunfinity, which captured the interest of cut flower producers. A single Sunfinity plant can produce over 100 spray type cut flowers throughout a season!
  • Tagetes – Endurance, the next generation in triploid breeding with the best of both worlds: African x French marigolds!
  • Zinnia varieties: Magellan is the best-known series in the market and Swizzle has some striking bicolors.
  • Dianthus chinensis - Venti Parfait with its mega-sized flowers
  • Hibiscus Honeymoon, admired for its impressively large blooms.

Mr. Ivan Pozdnyakov commented, "The level of engagement and genuine interest from the visitors was remarkable. This event not only showcased our diverse and high-quality varieties, but also fostered valuable discussions about the future of floriculture in Vietnam."

By bringing world-class varieties to Vietnam's doorstep, Syngenta Flowers is poised to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the country's floriculture industry. This event is the second in a series throughout Vietnam. In March this year, the team organized its first ever event in Vietnam in Da Lat. A third event is being prepared for the region of Ho Chi Minh (Sa Đéc) later in 2025.
