In July 2023, Ivan moved to Bangkok, Thailand and started in his role as Technical Lead. He covers a wide territory including India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Bhutan, and Philippines.
“Day to day, my purpose is to support growers with plant production knowledge from our Syngenta R&D team, improve their ability to produce high quality plants, and familiarize growers with our varieties and what works best for them.” said Ivan. A territory spanning several countries means helping growers with diverse climate conditions. Not all climates are suited for all crops, so it’s Ivan’s job to find what works best for growers together with the Product Managers in the region. To make sure products are recommended that will make growers most successful there is a large focus on trialing. Ivan coordinates trials across the APAC region to study crop performance in different conditions and show these results with the growers in the various countries.
The Syngenta Flowers team has recently grown with Technical Sales Teams in all APAC key markets. Together with these local specialists, close to the grower, Ivan finds suitable locations for trials and works the scheduling and portfolio. Below are a few examples of crops that have worked well in some of his regions.
Growers in temperate climates like the Central Highlands of Vietnam saw great performance of Delta Pro Pansies, Deltini Violas, and certain perennials like Delphina Delphinium.
Growers in the hot and humid climates like Singapore experienced great results with Cora XDR Vinca, Cora Cascade XDR Vinca, and Inca Marigolds.
