Syngenta Flowers to acquire dahlia assortment from Verwer Dahlia BV

Syngenta Flowers announces today that it has reached an agreement with Verwer Dahlia BV to acquire its dahlia assortment and breeding program. Both companies expect to finalize the acquisition in the coming weeks. Terms have not been disclosed.

Verwer Dahlia BV, one of the leading dahlia innovators in the Netherlands, was established in 1967 in Lisse in the heart of the Bollenstreek, the Dutch bulb-growing region.

The Royal Horticultural Society recently awarded Aad and Cees Verwer, of Verwer Dahlia BV, the prestigious Reginald Cory Memorial Cup for their successful dahlia breeding program that resulted in the recent introduction and availability of new hybrids of merit.

The Verwer dahlia assortment comprises over 140 registered varieties, including well-known series like GalleryTM, Melody and the recently introduced DahlegriaTM dahlias.

Verwer Dahlia’s activities in the dahlia tuber market are not part of the planned acquisition and will continue as before.
